Bridge
Dental Bridge is a fixed prosthesis that is anchored onto the few neighbouring teeth to replace missing teeth.
It will only be possible if the teeth supporting the bridge are strong enough.
Porcelain Bridge can be highly aesthetic (often built in combination with zirconia or metal) to create a beautiful smile with natural looking appearance.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Less invasive not requiring surgical approach
- Replaces missing teeth without the use of a denture
- More economical compared to dental implant
Cons
- Harder to provide oral hygiene as they are all bonded together. It requires a special floss to clean the space underneath the bridge.
Types of Materials Used for Bridges
- Porcelain – natural tooth like appearance
- Zirconia – strong and durable with acceptable appearance
- Gold – strongest option often used on a back tooth where it is less visible
- Semi-precious metal (mixture of gold & other metals)
- Non-precious metal (Silver colour)
- Porcelain Fused to Metal (PFM) – mixture of porcelain and metal
